Still waters, so the phrase goes, run deep...and many of Avondet's works gelam with surface light, as though they were submerged under those waters.  That adds a meditative, calming aspect to even the most dynamic of her abstract paintings. - Steve Brisendine
Avondet's paintings evoke a deliberate mood of soft spoken and hauntingly tender contemplation.  With dense areas of pure hue offset by subtly modulated browns and often glistening silver leaf, Natalie approaches the canvas without a formal plan, allowing the painting to present itself naturally.
This organic approach combined with layer upon layer of color and texture allows for an unforced feeling to
emerge, leaving you contemplating each layer often wondering what lies beneath.
In 2011, Natalie ventured into the international market with her first sale overseas.  Additionally, Natalie teaches yoga through her compay. She currently resides in St. Louis, MO with her husband.

ARTIST STATEMENT:
As an artist, I love the idea that each piece of artwork has the ability to evoke a different experience from each viewer and that subsequent viewings can bring forth yet another connection from the same viewer.  Every time you view a painting is should be like peeling back an onion.  You should see more and feel more with each layer of paint.  New memories, smells, emotions should surface.  Each day we are exposed to new things.  It only stands to reason, that our connection to a piece can emerge anew with each new day.
My painting style involves a search for this emergence.  I begin with an idea, and then allow the paint with layer upon layer to dictate what the idea is to become.  Sometimes, they coincide.  Other times, I have to learn to let go.
